Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait to be installed in all Courts in Karnataka: The Karnataka High Court has notified that a portrait of Dr. BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution of India, would be put up in all court halls of High Court Benches in Bengaluru, Dharwad and Kalburgi as well as all court halls in district courts across the State.

Two circulars to that effect was issued on June 19 after requests by the general public, advocates, various fora and organizations as well as a government communication calling for the same.

Before this, a full court of the High Court had also passed a resolution on April 26, resolving to display Dr. Ambedkar’s photo at a prominent place in all court halls.

Consequently, the Additional Registrars General of the High Court were directed to take necessary steps to display of the photograph/ portrait of Dr Ambedkar in all the court halls of the High Court at its Bengaluru, Dharwad and Kalburagi Benches.

Similar instructions were given with respect to court halls in district courts across Karnataka.

“Therefore, it is hereby directed to cause display of the photograph/ portrait of Bharata Ratna Dr. BR Ambedkar, Father & Architect of Constitution of India, at prominent suitable place in all the Court Halls of the District Judiciary of the State,” the circular said.
