Chhattisgarh High Court Launches E-Summons and Hospital VC Facilities: Raipur, Chhattisgarh – June 30, 2025 – In a significant leap towards modernizing the judicial system in Chhattisgarh, the High Court has ceremonially inaugurated Digitization Centres in the District & Sessions Courts of Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Korba, and Bemetara. The virtual event, held on June 25, 2025, also marked the formal launch of e-Summons for Criminal Cases and the extension of Video Conferencing Facilities to District Hospitals across 23 Civil Districts of the state. These initiatives represent a substantial advancement in the state judiciary’s commitment to transparency, administrative efficiency, and seamless access to justice.
The momentous occasion was presided over by Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha of the Chhattisgarh High Court, who was joined by Justice Narendra Kumar Vyas, the esteemed Chairman of the Computerization Committee. High Court Judges, including Portfolio Judges of the respective Districts and Members of the Computerization Committee, along with the Registrar General and Officers of the Registry, witnessed the program through a virtual link. Also present at their respective locations were Principal District & Sessions Judges, Judicial Officers, District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, office-bearers of Bar Associations, members of Digitization Teams, and court personnel from the concerned districts, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this modernization drive.
In his inaugural address, Chief Justice Sinha expressed profound satisfaction at the successful completion of Digitization Centres across all 23 districts of Chhattisgarh, hailing it as a “remarkable milestone in the Judicial history of Chhattisgarh.” He underscored the indispensable role of digitization in fortifying the justice delivery mechanism, stating, “The establishment of these Digitization Centres constitutes a significant stride in our endeavour to integrate robust technological frameworks into judicial administration. The initiative resonates with our aspiration to evolve into a paperless, expeditious, and citizen-centric judicial system.” His words highlighted the strategic vision to transform the judiciary into a more efficient and accessible institution.
The Chief Justice further lauded the concerted efforts of the District Judiciary and the Committee on Computerization, whose proactive oversight ensured the timely execution of this ambitious project.
Beyond the digitization centers, Chief Justice Sinha extended his commendation towards the launch of the e-Summons system for criminal cases and the Video Conferencing Facility at District Hospitals across all twenty-three civil districts of Chhattisgarh. He emphasized that these initiatives are “not merely technological upgrades but are instruments of efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.”
He particularly highlighted the practical benefits of connecting hospitals with video conferencing facilities, noting that it “will not only save time in the process of recording medical evidence but also reduce the time spent by Doctors in travelling to the Court.” This direct link is expected to significantly reduce procedural delays and enhance the convenience of all stakeholders involved in the judicial process. Furthermore, the Chief Justice added that the implementation of the e-Summons system “will ensure prompt and verifiable delivery, eliminating delays and precluding any evasion under the pretext of non-receipt, thereby reinforcing efficiency and accountability in judicial processes.”
The inauguration proceedings commenced with a welcome address by Shri Brijendra Kumar Shastri, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bemetara. This was followed by a curated audio-visual presentation that offered a detailed glimpse into the infrastructure and operational capacity of the newly launched Digitization Centres, as well as the comprehensive scope of the e-Summons for Criminal Cases and the Video Conferencing Facility at District Hospitals.
The program concluded with a gracious vote of thanks proposed by Shri Jitendra Kumar, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Raigarh. He expressed deep appreciation to the Chief Justice, the Hon’ble Judges, administrative functionaries, and technical teams whose unwavering dedication brought this transformative vision to fruition.
